Stitch & Style
Empowering youth through the art of sewing and textile design, teaching machine operation, fabric selection, cutting, stitching, and creative design fundamentals.

About This Program
The Stitch & Style program empowers youth through the art of sewing and textile design. Participants receive hands-on instruction in essential techniques, including machine operation, fabric selection, cutting, and stitching, which provide a platform for creativity and practical skills.
Students engage in hands-on learning that incorporates science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM). The program explores natural fibers like cotton, synthetic fibers like polyester, and even advanced textiles including smart fabrics with embedded sensors and glow-in-the-dark threads.
The curriculum covers fabric science — understanding different fiber types, their properties, and applications. Students learn about waterproof fabrics, conductive threads for wearable technology, and the engineering behind fabric durability and functionality.
By partnering with local designers, sewing instructors, and community organizations, Stitch & Style fosters collaboration and community spirit. Students develop fine motor coordination, independent problem-solving skills, and creative confidence that translates to other areas of life.
