The Ink Society
A youth journalism program empowering students to explore reporting, research, interviewing, and multimedia production while creating a community-focused publication.

About This Program
The Ink Society is a youth journalism program designed to empower students to explore the world of journalism through hands-on writing and reporting experiences. Participants develop essential journalism skills, including research, interviewing, and multimedia production, while creating a community-focused online publication.
By fostering critical thinking and media literacy, the program prepares young journalists to become active and informed members of their communities. Students learn effective research methods to ensure accuracy and integrity in their reporting, and develop the ability to analyze information and evaluate sources critically.
The program integrates STEAM connections through data journalism — introducing basic statistical analysis and data visualization techniques — as well as multimedia production using video, audio editing, and digital publishing tools. Students explore the engineering of effective layouts for online publications and develop skills in photography and graphic design.
The program culminates in a student-produced newsletter, giving participants real-world experience in content creation, editorial decision-making, and collaborative publishing.
